Eyes of Eilistraee: NWN 1.69

Not found much time over the last week to work on Eyes of Eilistraee. I was going to post part of my ToDo list, so you folks have an idea of where I'm up to, but as it would give away a bunch of spoilers I decided not to ;)

On the plus side I've been looking into the new features available in NWN patch 1.69. It looks like this will be a major patch from BioWare (possibly the last for NWN?) as it will release a whole raft of new content. Since Eyes of Eilistraee is coming out in the twilight years of NWN's popular lifespan I think it kind of makes sense to utilise whatever I can from the new patch especially if it adds to my existing setting and style.

For reference here are some of the highlights from the patch notes for 1.69. I'm not promising that all of this will make it into Eyes of Eilistraee but some of it certainly will:

8 New Tilesets:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Barrows Interior
Castle Exterior, Rural
Castle Interior 2
City Interior 2
Fort Interior
Sea Caves
Steamworks
Tropical

New Creatures (over 100 new apperances):
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Caladnei (NPC)
Cobra (Regular, Black and Gold )
Curst Swordsman
Gem Golems (Diamond, Emerald and Ruby)
G'Zhorb the All seeing Eye
Halaster
Harat, Lord of Darkness (Large and Small)
Horses (63 Different varients, plus mounted Humans, Elves, Half-Elves, Halflings, Gnomes, Half-Orcs and Dwarves)
Lord Antoine Baccha, Visier de Guise (NPC)
Maggris, the Hive MotherMasterius (Regular, Disguised and Powerful)
Mist Dragon
Nightmare ( Regular, Saddled and Armored )
Ogre Chieftan
Purple Dragon Knight Archer (Female and Male)
Purple Dragon Knight Blade (Female and Male)
Satyr (Regular, Archer and Warrior)

Wyvern (Great, Adult, Juvenile and Young)

plus hundreds of new placeables..

Hi ER

I still lurk here. :)

I eagerly look forward to this project.

I think a lot of authors - maybe many near their "crowning completions" are waiting for 169. And this does make sense.

I suspect a lot of good content will come out right after the patch. I always felt your origninal mod never got its due - and I could not nominate it to the Overlooked report for example.

Make sure you do a little self promotion over at the Bioware Boards... even if its against your nature... The Citadel Mod looks like it is still 2005 with the downloads and buzz going on. They were very good about speaking up on the Bioboards.

Hi Jfoxtail

Thanks for stopping by again and voicing your support ; )

I'm expecting at least a small surge in activity when 1.69 hits the ground so it will be a good time to drum up some interest in EOE.

I have nothing against the BioWare boards - however the same can't be said of my company's internet browsing policy which blocks anything game related. Thanks for the reminder though, I certainly plan to hit the boards with EOE promotion at some point.

Regarding Pawns of the Shadovar, It made the HOF recently which was quite a nice surprise. My hope is that EOE will be seen as a much, much better module due to the story, characters, roleplay and meaningful decisions.

Neat ER.

Well drop me a line - I will certainly be happy to spread the word on EoE in the Mods forum and Bio.

If you release timely i.e. right after 169 goes public I think there will be more than a "small flurry". A lot of PWs etc will be assessing the impact and down implimenting the patch.

There should be a number of NWN1 ers looking for a mod from someone they know.

I expect a half dozen mods may in fact get 10000 downloads. Yours, ole FP's, Alaz AL4. The "old school" is still around.

That actually compares well to the NWN 2 rates if you look at the vault???? (well except for anything by Hugie). Seems recent mods i.e. late 2007 2008 only get about 5000. Its a huge suprise to me that the numbers are not in the 50000's.

(thats not a slag on NWN2 - but observation )

Anyway I keep lurking and waiting like all the other freeloaders pestering you..

Cheers
