Eyes of Eilistraee & CEP 2.0

I'd originally planned to support a CEP and non-CEP version of Eyes of Eilistraee for Neverwinter nights. However with the advent of NWN2 and its, lets face it, far superior graphics I've decided that Eyes of Eilistraee will be CEP 2.0 only. It's my hope that this will actually pull in more players who want to play a better looking module even though the download requirements will have shot up.

Focusing on a CEP only version will allow me to get more out of the pack and make EoE a lot prettier. It won't look as good as NWN2, but at least it'll look better than vanilla NWN.

Regarding a progress update, there's still a lot of fleshing out to do and sections of the module are constantly getting revisited either for a makeover or quality check. Although I did toy with the idea of migrating the whole project to NWN2 I've rejected that for a number of reasons. The main one being that I'm happy with the NWN toolset, tilesets, my custom assets and using the CEP. I know how to do this stuff and hopefully I know how to do it well ;)

Hi Elven Rogue - having "migrated" to NWN2, I just wanted to say that I hope you'll learn that toolset, too, at some point. ;) Good luck with the project, in any case.

Cheers,

Ha ha! And you said you hoped the project was for NWN! 8)

I think I'm too far down the line with this to uproot it and rebuild it in nwn2. I had a good look at the nwn2 toolset over the weekend and although I'm starting to get the hang of it - and I like the large number of placeables on offer - there are too many elements of EOE that require content only present in NWN - so I'm happy to stick with NWN for EOE and leave NWN2 for next time.

Whoops... I did? Hmmm... The following is all the evidence that I can find: "And I take it that it is coming for NWN (1). Sweet! : )". To be fair to me, that was in June. I was hoping to see the module before NWN2 at that point. And I did advertise the little project of ours for NWN2 - Forgotte Realms Weave... 8)

It does admittedly make me a bit sad that the module will be for NWN (1). It *seems* like good modules might start showing up relatively soon for NWN2, and my playing time is somewhat limited nowadays. So, it could be that I won't be coming back to NWN1.

But I do understand you. There are many things that do not exist, yet, for NWN2. Some underdark stuff being one thing that comes to my mind, knowing that your module will have *something* to do with the drow. And of course there are other things, too.

There'll be a grateful audience for your module, in any case, I'd guess. Best of luck with it, and I hope to see your NWN2 creations soon, too.

Cheers,

Lariam

Fair points about the development cycle. Yes, it's been pretty long. Partly because the module has become bigger than I intended and partly because due to other commitments I've not been able to devote as much time to it as I would have liked, which has held up development. Still, the best route is to complete EOE in nwn then move on to a nwn2 project.

I have an idea on the backburner for a nwn2 project. A very small module with some simple goals. For all future projects the idea will be to produce episodic content - small modules in reasonable timeframes - since family/work commitments make it very hard for me to run with bigger projects.

Yeah - I totally understand. With a family consisting of only me and my wife, and with a very flexible job, I still have trouble finding the time to even play NWN, at times. Such is the real life. And building must be a lot more sensitive to time issues than playing is. No complaints about the development cycle.

It is wonderful that some people have the dedication needed in order to produce large-scale modules that require such development cycles.

Small modules/episodic content for NWN2? - I look forward to that. It'll be FR, right..? ;) I hope I haven't fully "migrated" to...I don't know, Eberron, by the time that you release that stuff. :D

Cheers,

Lariam

I for one am happy you will publish in 1 ER. I just played your first mod and I very impressed.
Going CEP 2 will draw the crowd you are looking for "after" patch 169. I think CEP 2 came late in the game and there is some angst about compatability. So long as 169 and CEP 2 are fine - the core 10000 gamers in 1 will play your mod based on word of mouth.
Looking forward to it!
